  4. Good day Doctor. Tracey! I was just wondering, what if a psychiatrist develops depression, anxiety, PTSD or any other mental illnesses, can they prescribe themselves their own medications or can they treat their own selves? Psychiatrists are human beings after all. It is possible that they can also experience mental illness themselves…

  5. do you advise or endorse the use of hemp supplements by any of your clients for the possibilities of mood elevation doctor ?

  6. i am on zoloft for anxiety. i stayed 5 weeks at 100 mg and 6 weeks at 75 mg, instead of getting less anxious i get agitated, ringing in the ears, eyelid twitching, muscle spams and tiredness, it seems that either the dose is too much or this drug is not for me. while i was feeling better in 50 mg before reaching the 100 mg the doc prescribed, u think that my dose is too much or too low ? i will ask the doc to go down to 50 mg or find a more relaxing med. i also take lyrica 75 mg x 3 and it doesnt do much, what do u think doc ?

  9. I was on Effexor and had the worst depression I ever had while still taking the medication. I wonder if it was tolerance or just that the medication wasn't working for me. I was on Effexor for almost two years.

  11. I am a proud vegan of seven years. My plant based vegan diet has improved my mood, contributed to weight loss from antipsychotic medication, and reversed my acne and irritable bowel syndrome. Can Seroquel cause or trigger IBS?

  12. Hi Dr Tracey,
I have ADHD, Bipolar disorder 2 and Aspergers syndrome and have been taking only dexamphetamine sulfate (5mg 6x tablets a day) on and off for about 5 years now (last 3 years more consistent except when I was pregnant twice in that time). I've found that overtime especially after giving birth to my second child, I've built immunity to the drug. It still does it's job during the first few hours after taking it but the effects don't last as long as they used to. I've tried to take the dosages differently to see if that helps but they're still not as effective as they were when I started them. They still give me the initial effect so I rely on them to start my day but I was wondering if this is due to the fact that I've built so much immunity to them or is there another underlying issue. I was diagnosed as having post natal depression as well however all the antidepressants and anti psychotics I was prescribed made me so Ill I was confined to my bed for a week which is not practical for a mother caring for 2 babies. Any advice would help.
    Thank you.

  13. Thanks for this video! Could you do a video on sleep issues in bipolar and how it differs to those without. Insomnia, hypersomnia, trouble waking up and delayed sleep onset disorder long term treatment. What medications can exacerbate those with both sleep apnea and insomnia. Does a normal psychiatrist tackle bipolar sleep irregularities or sleep psychiatrist?

  14. I was taking lexapro for alittle then I stopped and now i'm on it again and it still works but not as well.. anyone else have this problem?

  15. I have a question, lithium destroyed my thyroid and I got taken off it, however lithium is the only thing that really helped me, antipsychotics gave me metabolic syndrome and I was told I cannot handle them. I've tried other mood stabilizers and am on lamictal 200mg but it isn't as effective for my mania or mixed episodes. I know that lithium can continue to affect my body and affect my kidneys, is it possible that I can go ahead and continue it despite this and take the risk? I would rather face renal failure or death and have a few more years of "stable" life that is healthy than more years that will instead be of poor quality and disastrous mood instability.

  16. This has happened to me with every psych medication I've ever taken. Every single one that has helped (of which there have been few) has stopped working. It's heartbreaking.

  17. Hi Dr. Marx,
I am currently working toward my LPC, and I was wondering if it is possible to have multiple mental disorders? I have seen some patients be diagnosed with as many as 4 disorders? In my coursework, I recall learning this is not possible, but in my professional work I’m being told the opposite. Some clarification regarding this conflicting information would be very helpful, thanks!

  18. Love that you now say the generic drug name and after the brand name, specially for us not in USA, in previous videos I had to Google a lot to see what drug you were referring to.
    Keep with your amazing work!

  19. Thank you Dr Mark this episode is very informative.
The question is can antidepressants treat PDD as any depression or have different pills?

  20. I would like to know why some people are overly sensitive to antidepressants. I've tried many different medications and always get bad side effects and can't go on eith the medication.

  21. Dr Marks
Yeah I’ve heard of MAOIs . for years never tried one because of the side effects nor was I ever prescribed one .my first time trying an antidepressant was in 2008 when I got back from the military .I was put on Lexapro and I didn’t even have health insurance are used to get samples from the doctor. now today I take trintellix and Bupropion hydrochloride what drug isn’t hydrochloride based these days ?LOL
